Faalor

Faalorian Orcs & Half-orcs

Orcs were one of the first humanoids to colonize Faalor.  As such, their mark is deep upon the Island.  Many of the ancient ruins throughout the Island are of orcish make.

Orcs are clannish creatures, dividing themselves into large family groups.  On Faalor, these clans have become three major racial subgroups.  Each of these subgroups have their own natural habitat, culture and battle tactics.  Even their religious beliefs differ.  While the Vishnuul Clan are ardent followers of Thath'urgul, the other clans have their own patron gods.  The Chuth are more shamanistic and have a full pantheon of gods, and the Mnluug worship a lone god named, Zethlueg (a chaotic forest demon of some kind).

Half-Orc

Half-orcs are a playable race in Faalor.  That said, human/orc unions are rare.  Most half-orcs remain in orcish lands as superior shock troops for the cause of evil, the offspring of some unfortunate human slave.  Occasionally though orcs leave their prodigy behind in human lands, the products of raids.  These unfortunates are cared for by their human parents and become part of an underclass of the undesirable.  Humans may accept a half-orc in their midst; they just don't have to like it.  Only very rare individuals are able to break out of their orcish stereotypes and become truly productive members of human society.

One major exception to this rule is the town of Gundar.  Some hundred years ago a band of Vishnuul orcs invaded deep into human territory.  Over the course of a winter, the orcs and the humans found it necessary to work together.  As time passed the two races began to interbreed in their remote home.  Eventually, the descendants of these two people merged into something of a separate race altogether.  They retain many of their Teussian and Vishnuul ways but appear to have found a way of living with the greater Faalorian society.  Many half-orcs simply call themselves Gundermen.

Half-Orc Racial Traits

  • +2 Strength, -2 Intelligence, -2 Charisma: Half-orcs are strong, but their orc lineage makes them dull and crude.
  • Medium-size: As Medium-size creatures, half orcs have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
  • Half-orc base speed is 30 feet
  • Darkvision: Half-orcs (and orcs) can see in the dark up to 60 feet. Darkvision is black and white only, but it is otherwise like normal sight, and half-orcs can function just fine with no light at all.
  • Orc Blood: For all special abilities and effects, a half-orc is considered an orc.
  • Automatic Languages: Common.  Depending on upbringing: Orcish.
  • Favored Class: Barbarian. A multiclass half-orc's barbarian class does not count when determining whether he suffers an XP penalty. Ferocity runs in a half-orc's veins.
