Faalor, A Quick Overview
The current incarnation of the Faalor campaign grew out the
need for a consistently believable setting, enjoyable online
entertainment and safe environment for high quality
role-playing.
Neverwinter Nights allows the Dungeon Master to carefully
choose participants and control many aspects of the game.
Current participants are all seasoned role-players who know
how to accept consequences of their actions; indeed most enjoy
the realism. This allows for realistic 'life' in a world with
concrete boundaries.
Faalor itself is an island about 100-200 miles off the
shore of a much larger contentment. I've never really felt the
need to flesh out the "Mainland" but Faalor does not
exist in a vacuum. It's a pretty standard D&D world,
complete with elves, dwarves, orcs, goblins, dragons, wizards,
evil assassins, and ancient ruins. A long time ago
(several thousand years ago), an elven civilization existed on
the island, until a hungry dragon, a horde of orcs and the
coming of humans forced them into the wilderness. Now,
most inhabitants of Faalor see the elves as sneaky, evil
creatures, hiding away in their dark forests and crumbling
ruins. All the while, human society grows and forgets
it's past. At campaign present, two major factions
(children of the once and popular king) squabble over the
rulership of the island.
