Faalor, a Neverwinter Nights Campaign World
Faalor is a campaign world created for serious role-players
who enjoy immersing themselves deeply in their characters and
the game world. While the campaign is currently using
the Neverwinter Nights game as it's platform, it is not a persistent world, but rather
a campaign world based on weekly game sessions. It is
the work, primarily of one Dungeon Master, but all the players
are free to contribute ideas, items, plot ideas and are
encouraged to provide feedback whenever possible.
Players are even encouraged to run their own Faalor campaigns
if they feel so inclined.
In 1980, Faalor saw it's first incarnation in the first AD&D games I ever DM'ed. Since then, the world has evolved and changed.
Players have come and gone. Game systems have evolved (geeze, we're doing 3rd, 4th or 5th edition D&D now, however you choose to count these things; I feel ooooold!!!).
When Neverwinter Nights was announced, I pounced on the idea of creating a world that could support deep role-playing as well as quick and meaningless violence, a world where players could immerse themselves in a realistic and detailed culture with a rich history to draw on. The world had to be dynamic and the players needed to feel like their actions mattered. Their successes and failures could change the course of history, for better or worse. This was not to be a generic world in any shape or form. (Though, seriously, how unique can a 'fantasy' world really be?)
Welcome to the Campaign
This is the fourth incarnation of this Website, so there's plenty to see. Feel free to look around, read and ask questions and offer suggestions; my goal is to make the best campaign possible and feedback is extremely important.
